France and Tajikistan commemorate 30 Years of Diplomatic Relations

-

Paris, 14 October 2021 (TDI): France and Tajikistan celebrate 30 years of diplomatic relations.

As the French republic and the republic of Tajikistan celebrate thirty years of diplomatic relations, the French president, Emmanuel Macron said, “Our cooperation in economic, cultural, and security matters, in particular in the context of the Afghan crisis, continues to strengthen.”

The statement comes on the occasion of both countries celebrating thirty years of diplomatic relations established on March 3, 1992. The Embassy of the Republic of Tajikistan in Paris also functions as the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Tajikistan to UNESCO since 2018.

France was one of the first countries to recognize the independent state of Tajikistan in 1991. The Tajik-French from then onwards has been based on cooperation in political, economic, scientific, cultural, and military fields.

The politico-military, economic and cultural cooperation between the two countries progressed rapidly especially from 2002 to 2013 when the French airbase was established at the Dushanbe international airport.

Both countries share a bond of mutual trust and continue to cooperate on areas of mutual interest.

The bilateral relations are based on regular political consultations of foreign ministries, visits at the political level, visits of representatives, defense ministries, business forums of Tajikistan and France, direct links between educational and research institutions, cultural events, and partnership within the framework of international organizations. Both the countries pledge to support each other during the afghan crisis as well.
