Foreign Minister Wang Yi meets Sudanese Deputy Chairman

Beijing, 2 November 2023 (TDI): Director of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee Wang Yi met with Sudanese Deputy Chairman Transitional Sovereign Council Malik Agar in Beijing.

Wang Yi said that China and Sudan are good friends and good partners who have always supported each other on issues concerning their core interests and major concerns.

China appreciates Sudan’s firm adherence to the one-China principle and supports Sudan’s efforts to safeguard its sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity.

China welcomes Sudan’s smooth transition to a new stage of development and hopes that Sudan will achieve lasting peace, stability and development.

Wang Yi stated that the Sudanese people’s fundamental interests, as well as regional peace and security, depend on achieving stability in Sudan as soon as possible.

He said that China supports all parties in Sudan in pursuing a political transition through dialogue and consultation, led by the Sudanese people themselves.

He also expressed China’s willingness to keep providing help as much as possible, and said he was confident that the Sudanese people will overcome challenges and restore stability and development in their country.

Agar thanked China for its long-term support and assistance to Sudan. He said that Sudan regards China as a reliable friend and partner, and firmly adheres to the one-China principle.

Sudan values China’s influence in global matters, appreciates China’s concern for Sudan’s situation, and hopes China will help Sudan achieve stability, rebuild and develop. He also expressed his interest in expanding exchanges and cooperation with China in various fields as well.
