Foreign Minister Pakistan met President ICRC

New York, 23 September 2021 (TDI): Foreign Minister of Pakistan, Shah Mahmood Qureshi, met President of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), Peter Maurer. The meeting was held on the sidelines of the 76th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

The Foreign Minister briefed the President regarding the humanitarian situation in Afghanistan and Kashmir. He apprised him about the humanitarian assistance provided by Pakistan to Afghanistan. The Foreign Minister added that Pakistan has opened a humanitarian corridor to supply food and medicines in Afghanistan.

He reiterated the crucial role of international assistance for development in Afghanistan and averting a humanitarian crisis.

Furthermore, the Foreign Minister highlighted the grave human rights violations in Indian Occupied Kashmir (IOK). He also presented a dossier to President Peter documenting the critical situation of human rights in Indian Occupied Kashmir.

On this occasion, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi also hailed the humanitarian work of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in crises.
