Juba, 9 October 2021 (TDI): The European Union has partnered with the World Food Program in South Sudan and the United Nations Office for Project Services UNOPF in South Sudan to combat famine risk in South Sudan.
The EU has allocated a grant of €20m for emergency support projects in South Sudan. The fund rendered to support an ongoing project of €16m by WFP South Sudan and UNOPF to curb famine.

The new funding provided under the banner of the European Union will provide life-saving food support and nutrition support. It will support hundreds of thousands of people living in deprived areas of South Sudan.
Moreover, the fund will also allocated for the infrastructural development to link the remote rural areas to South Sudan to agricultural hubs.
The event was attended by Dionyz Hotel, the Charge d’Affaires of the European Union to South Sudan. Further, Wim Vandenbroucke, the EU Head of Cooperation was also present in the event.
The representatives from the EU explained the European Union’s commitment to the provision of structural food security in South Sudan.
