Kampala, 18 September 2021 (TDI): EU and Sweden in Uganda hosted a live public dialogue & debate to mark International Day of Democracy. The event was about to explore the link between democracy and economic growth and inclusion.

We cannot let our guard down in preserving democracy, said Anna Merrifield, director of the European Union Delegation in Uganda. Democracy is under constant attack. I’m delighted to once again join together with Sweden in Uganda to host discourse on this topic Anna Merrifield added.

COVID-19 arrives, along with a supplementary budget that includes security, but we are currently in a health emergency, and people are forced to pay by depositing land titles because public health facilities are under-equipped, said Allana Kembabazi, Program Manager of the Institute for Socio-Economic Research (ISER).

Mosses Isooba, a member of The Uganda National NHO forum stated that Employment and having a good job is not the same thing. How do we reconcile economic growth with deteriorating social indicators? By bypassing supplementary budgets, we should reduce budget credibility.
