# EU Council president visits Slovenia

**Ljubljana, 28 August 2023 (TDI):** Following a visit to the areas impacted by recent floods in Slovenia, EU Council President Charles Michel expressed his heartfelt solidarity with the Slovenian people and reassured the nation of the European Union’s unwavering support.

In his press remarks after touring the affected region, President Michel commended the courage displayed by the Slovenian people and applauded the determined leadership of Prime Minister Golob.

During his visit, President Michel had the opportunity to witness firsthand the challenging situation on the ground.

He also acknowledged the complexity of the challenges Slovenia faces due to the floods and emphasized the EU’s commitment to providing practical assistance.

President Michel highlighted the European Commission’s pledge to allocate €400 million as an initial step towards addressing the crisis.
