KPK, 4 October 2023 (TDI): In a collaborative effort between UNDP Pakistan and EU Pakistan, a recent orientation session took place for more than 40 Public Relations Officers (PROs) from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police.

This initiative is a crucial component of the ‘Deliver Justice Project,’ which aims to enhance transparency and build public trust in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police.

During this session, over 40 PROs were trained on Ethical and gender-responsive Communications, using an innovative and interactive approach with the introduction of Slid, a first for both the program and the KP Police.

The training focused on empowering PROs to be more responsible and transparent, addressing topics such as Crisis Communications and the application of an Ethical Decision-Making framework to navigate ethical dilemmas effectively.

This orientation session on Communications Strategy was a continuation of the UNDP Pakistan Rule of Law Program’s efforts to support the KPK Police, specifically within the Directorate of Public Affairs.

Under the EU Pakistan funded ‘Deliver Justice Project,’ with the overarching goal of strengthening police–public relations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Furthermore, in September 2023, UNDP Pakistan, EU Pakistan, and KPK Police jointly inaugurated the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police’s first Public Outreach Strategy and Media cell as part of the ‘Deliver Justice Project.

Under the ‘Deliver Justice Project’ funded by the EU, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police, in collaboration with the UNDP, Pakistan launched the first-ever Communications and Public Outreach Strategy.

This initiative aims to increase transparency and enhance public trust in the police force.

In addition to these developments, the government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) province officially inaugurated a police training center in northwestern Pakistan.

This center represents a significant investment in capacity building for law enforcement personnel, especially in a region that has been affected by militancy.
