# Dar, Iranian FM Hold Talks on Peace Efforts

**Islamabad (TDI):** Pakistan and Iran have held high-level diplomatic contact as efforts to ease regional tensions continue, with both sides discussing the evolving situation and ongoing mediation initiatives.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar spoke with his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi late Sunday, according to the Foreign Office of Pakistan.

The Foreign Office said the conversation focused on the broader regional situation and Pakistan’s continued diplomatic engagement aimed at promoting peace and stability.

During the call, Araghchi appreciated Pakistan’s “constructive role” and mediation efforts between key stakeholders in the ongoing crisis.

Dar reaffirmed Islamabad’s position that dialogue and diplomacy remain the only viable path toward resolving disputes and achieving lasting regional stability.

The contact comes amid renewed movement on the diplomatic front, with Tehran confirming that the United States has responded to its latest peace proposal. Iranian media reports said the response was conveyed through Pakistan, which has been playing a facilitating role.

US President Donald Trump has also indicated progress, describing ongoing discussions with Iran as “very positive” and potentially leading to a broader agreement.

Negotiations between Washington and Tehran have largely remained stalled since a Pakistan-brokered ceasefire took effect in April, with only one round of direct talks held so far in Islamabad.

According to reports, Iran’s proposal outlines a phased roadmap to de-escalate tensions, including reopening key maritime routes, easing economic restrictions, and eventually transitioning the ceasefire into a permanent end to the conflict.

The plan is said to include gradual restoration of shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, lifting of blockades, and a broader commitment to non-aggression across the region.

Later stages reportedly envision limits on nuclear activity under agreed conditions, partial sanctions relief, and the launch of a wider regional security dialogue involving Middle Eastern countries.

While details remain under review, the latest diplomatic exchanges suggest cautious momentum toward a negotiated outcome, even as significant differences persist between the parties.

Pakistan continues to position itself as a facilitator, urging all sides to prioritise dialogue and avoid further escalation.
