# Dar Highlights Pakistan-China ‘Converging Vision’ on Regional and Global Issues

**Islamabad (TDI):** Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar said on Wednesday that Pakistan and China share a “converging vision” on key regional and global matters.

Addressing the Senate, Dar stated that “Pakistan and China share a converging vision on regional and global issues,” emphasizing the close alignment between the two countries on international affairs.

A Chinese delegation was also present in the visitors’ gallery as part of events marking the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China.

“We are committed to upholding the purposes and principles of the UN Charter in a world facing complex challenges,” the foreign minister said.

He further highlighted that cooperation between Pakistan and China at the United Nations, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), and other international platforms has been “vital in defending the interests of developing countries and promoting global peace”.

Dar informed the House that he would accompany Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on a state visit to China from May 23 to 26, during which both sides will participate in celebrations marking 75 years of bilateral relations.

He said the leadership would meet Chinese President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang, along with participation in business-to-business (B2B) engagements aimed at strengthening economic cooperation.

He also mentioned that important institutional meetings, including the Pakistan–China Political Forum and the CPEC Joint Consultative Mechanism, would be held during the visit, with a multi-party parliamentary delegation from Pakistan also taking part.

Highlighting regional cooperation, Dar said Pakistan and China have jointly worked on initiatives aimed at promoting peace and stability in the Gulf and Middle East, reflecting their shared commitment to global security.

Recalling his recent visit to China in March, he said Pakistan had put forward a five-point peace initiative related to the regional conflict, which, according to him, has since been endorsed by several countries.

He added that he has remained in continuous contact with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and other regional counterparts amid tensions following US-Israeli strikes on Iran in late February.

Over the past 75 years, Dar said, Pakistan–China relations have evolved into a strong and comprehensive strategic partnership.

He noted that landmarks such as the Karakoram Highway and Gwadar Port stand as enduring symbols of the friendship between the two countries.

Referring to the China–Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), he described it as a flagship project of the Belt and Road Initiative and a major driver of regional connectivity and prosperity.

Dar said Pakistan now looks forward to the next phase of CPEC, focusing on industrialisation, agriculture, information technology, and socio-economic development.

He expressed confidence that the benefits of the partnership would reach all segments of Pakistani society, recalling China’s support in helping Pakistan address its power shortages and load-shedding challenges.

A Foreign Office statement said Dar reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to further expanding cooperation across political, economic, strategic, and people-to-people domains, and reiterated the resolve to carry forward the “iron-clad friendship” for future generations.
