Pakistan's Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa

Rawalpindi, 20 October 2021 (TDI): Senior Civil Representative of North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) to Afghanistan, Stefano Pontecorvo, met Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff (COAS), General Qamar Jawed Bajwa. The meeting took place at General Headquarters, Rawalpindi.

During the meeting, both officials discussed matters of mutual interests. They also exchanged views on regional security situation; particularly the emerging dynamics in Afghanistan. Army Chief General Bajwa reiterated need for global convergence on Afghanistan. He said joint efforts of international community are necessary to avert a humanitarian and economic crisis in Afghanistan.

The visiting dignitary acknowledged Pakistan’s efforts for regional peace and stability. He also appreciated Pakistan’s positive role in Afghanistan, especially the successful conduction of evacuation operations. He also appreciated
