COAS Pakistan met Canadian High Commissioner

Rawalpindi, 25 October 2021 (TDI): Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff (COAS), General Qamar Javed Bajwa, met Canadian High Commissioner to Pakistan, Wendy Gilmour. The meeting took place at General Headquarter, Rawalpindi.

According to ISPR, the military’s media wing, both officials discussed matters of mutual interest. They examined regional security and also exchanged views on the emerging dynamics in Afghanistan. Additionally, both officials deliberated over the prospects of enhancing bilateral cooperation between Canada and Pakistan in diverse sectors.

The Chief of Army Staff said Pakistan desires to enhance bilateral multidomain relationship with Canada.

Additionally, he reiterated the need for positive engagement of the international community in Afghanistan. He said international assistance is imperative for averting a humanitarian and economic crisis in Afghanistan. He further added instability in Afghanistan is a threat to not only regional peace and stability but also global stability. The army chief urged the international community to make coordinate efforts for development in Afghanistan.

Furthermore, the visiting dignitary appreciated Pakistan’s humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan. She also acknowledged Pakistan’s efforts for peace and stability in Afghanistan including the successful evacuation of foreign nationals from Kabul. The High Commissioner pledged to keep working for the betterment of Pak-Canada relations.
