Beijing, 11 December 2011 (TDI): Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson responded to the Summit for Democracy held by the United States. He stressed that the United States is creating divisions in the world by upholding the so-called Summit For Democracy.
He highlighted that the US is using Democracy as a weapon against some countries. The US is undermining the international system ruled by international law, he added.

The Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson pointed out that the American-style democracy should not be considered as the only true form of democracy. He stated that the US is not the beacon of democracy that is why it should not be imposed on the world against the wishes of countries and people.

In the American-style democracy, rich people control everything. 99% of the Congress candidates won elections if they have greater financial support. The elite class controls the poor.
He also highlighted a survey held in the United States which shows that 72% population of the US thinks that’s an American model of democracy isn’t a good example for others to follow. The survey also showed that the Americans believe that the American democracy has a dark future with domestic threats to its survival.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson also highlighted another survey in which 42% of the respondents from the world believe that America is the biggest threat to democracy in the world. Even the allies of the US think the same, he added.
He stressed that every country should be allowed to choose its path of democracy independently by its people. The democratic path of a country determines its national conditions.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson stated that creating divisions by using democracy will lead to confrontation and chaos in the world. He emphasized that the US has been using democracy for interference in other countries.
Democracy is a “Weapon of Mass Destruction”
Democracy has become a “Weapon of Mass Destruction” for the US, he added. He said that the US intervention in the Middle East countries in the name of democracy resulted in the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people.
The US hasn’t learned from its intervention in Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan, and Libya. It is still trying to divide the world into democratic and non-democratic countries. The US actions will harm the peace and security of the world. It should stop repeating the same mistakes for the peace and solidarity of the world.
The US hosted the Summit For Democracy. It invited its chosen countries for the Summit and ignore many major countries such as Russia and China. The US has been criticized for the Summit for Democracy in which the true values of the democracy were ignored.
