Chinese envoy to the UN urges cooperation on women’s rights

New York, 22 October 2021 (TDI): The Deputy Permanent Representative of China to the United Nations Dai Bing urged the international community to cooperate on women’s rights. He gave these remarks during the open debate on women, peace, and security in United Nations Security Council.

The Deputy Permanent Representative of China to the UN further stated that it is the formidable duty of the international community to protect women’s rights in the world. He emphasized the political participation of women in areas characterized by armed conflicts. The Chinese envoy urged the international community to promote women’s development in vulnerable areas.

He gave the example of the situation in Afghanistan where women’s rights situation is vulnerable. The Chinese envoy said the Afghan women have suffered a lot during the war times. He said the international community needs to cooperate to protect the rights of Afghan women. As well, he offered support for the women participating in the peacekeeping missions.

China has been an active supporter of women’s rights in the world. Dai Bing emphasized the role of China in promoting the role of women in peacemaking and carrying out global cooperation on women’s issues along with the international community. Finally, he said that China is committed to its values of promoting gender equality and women empowerment in the world.
