# Chinese Envoy Praises Pakistan’s Mediation Efforts in US–Iran Tensions

**Islamabad (TDI):** China has expressed strong support for Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts to facilitate dialogue between the United States and Iran, as Beijing praised Islamabad’s role in promoting regional peace and stability.

Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong called on Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar in Islamabad and conveyed China’s “full support and appreciation” for Pakistan’s continued engagement in easing tensions between Washington and Tehran.

The Chinese ambassador to Pakistan, Jiang Zaidong, on Tuesday expressed Beijing’s support for Islamabad’s diplomatic efforts aimed at facilitating engagement between the United States and Iran, according to a statement shared on X.

The envoy met Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar in Islamabad to discuss regional developments. During the meeting, Ambassador Zaidong conveyed China’s “full support for and appreciation of Pakistan’s continued efforts to facilitate engagement between the US and Iran for sustained peace and stability in the region and beyond.”

According to an official statement, the two sides discussed the evolving regional situation, with Dar reaffirming the strength of the Pakistan–China “All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership” and underscoring the importance of sustained high-level exchanges between the two countries.

Dar also on Tuesday held a telephone conversation with Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty to discuss the latest regional developments, according to a statement posted by the Foreign Office on X.

The statement said both ministers “stressed the importance of dialogue and engagement for peace and stability” during their discussion. It added that the two sides agreed to remain in close contact as part of ongoing diplomatic coordination on regional issues.

Pakistan’s role as a mediator in the ongoing US–Iran crisis has drawn increasing international recognition. Officials and leaders from multiple countries, including Saudi Arabia, Iran, the United States, China, and Türkiye, have acknowledged Islamabad’s efforts to facilitate ceasefire negotiations and maintain communication channels.

With preparations underway for a potential second round of talks in Islamabad, Pakistan has positioned itself as a key diplomatic bridge between the two sides, despite persistent disagreements on critical issues such as sanctions, maritime security, and regional influence.

A high-level US delegation, reportedly led by Vice President JD Vance, is expected to arrive in Pakistan for the next phase of negotiations. However, uncertainty remains over Iran’s participation, as Tehran continues to weigh its options amid heightened tensions and mixed signals from Washington.

Despite the challenges, diplomatic channels remain open, with Pakistan continuing its efforts to steer the process toward de-escalation and a potential long-term agreement.
