China’s vaccine arrives in Sri Lanka

-

Colombo, 6 September 2021 (TDI): China has delivered four million doses of Sinopharm vaccines to Sri Lanka as the fourth wave hits the country into shackles. The supply of COVID-19 vaccines to Sri Lanka is a pledge made by China at the recent ASEAN meeting to help developing countries in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Sri Lankan health ministry monitored the process of handing over the vaccines from China to Sri Lankan authorities at the Bandaranaike International Airport. The Chinese embassy in Sri Lanka said that with the arrival of the vaccines, the country has now received 22 million doses of vaccines from China. This consignment was said to be the largest shipment to Sri Lanka.

Namal Rajapaksa, the country’s minister of youth and sports, appreciated the arrival of the doses that will be used to first inoculate the age group of 20 to 30 years seeking their second shots of vaccines.
