With concerted efforts nationwide, China has withstood the most challenging COVID-19 control test since the anti-epidemic battle of Wuhan in early 2020.

In this context since March this year, China has attained major accomplishments. Practice has demonstrated that the country’s epidemic control approach decided by the Party’s nature and mission, can stand the test of time.

Measures adopted by China are science-based and effective. It was stated during the meeting, that China won the battle of Wuhan and will surely win the one in Shanghai.

The COVID-19 pandemic situation is still severe internationally. The virus is continuously mutating. The outcome of the pandemic is still full of uncertainties. This means that China still has a very long way to go before it can relax its efforts.

It was surmised in the meeting that as a populous country with a huge number of senior citizens, insufficient medical resources, and unbalanced development between different regions, China will undoubtedly see a wide range of infections if it eases up on epidemic prevention and control.

As a result, a huge amount of severe cases and deaths will be caused, severely threatening social and economic development along with people’s health and safety.

In this context, China should have a complete, profound, and comprehensive knowledge of the prevention and control policies of the CPC Central Committee.

In the same vein, China will address shortcomings in understanding, preparation, and practical work. It was also advised in the meeting not to take a carefree attitude, underestimate the situation, and make unplanned decisions regarding COVID-19 control.

Instead, the policymakers must unswervingly stick to the dynamic zero-COVID approach, and tackle any rhetoric and actions that warp, deny or doubt the country’s country’s anti-epidemic policies.

The plenary noted that victory comes from perseverance. Presently, China is at a crucial crossroads. Party committees, as well as governments at all levels, should strengthen confidence and be cognizant of the complicated nature of the fight against COVID-19.

Aside from that, it was also emphasized during the meeting that regional outbreaks must be dealt with in a timely manner. Prevention and control capacity must be improved, along with strengthening coordinated regional prevention and control measures.

Moreover, sufficient manpower and materials for epidemic response must be secured. Sufficient efforts must be made at the same time to guarantee people’s basic needs.

It was underscored at the meeting that regular prevention and control efforts must be strictly enforced, inbound cases are controlled strictly and related sectors and departments must be held accountable for their responsibilities.

Furthermore, it was highlighted at the meeting that Party committees and governments at all levels, and all sectors must be in sync with the decisions and plans of the CPC Central Committee.

This will help to ensure being on the same page as the CPC Central Committee politically, ideologically, and practically. Party organizations at all levels, members, and officials must play a primary and exemplary role.

Exemplary individuals and their deeds should be lauded to encourage everyone in the fight against the epidemic. Other issues were also discussed at the meeting.
