Beijing (TDI): China has strongly condemned the latest US pressure targeting its technology sector, declaring it will “absolutely not accept” what it described as unjust suppression.
In response to a recent announcement by the US Commerce Department’s Bureau of Industry and Security, which claimed that using Huawei’s Ascend chips anywhere in the world breaches US export controls and it warned the public about the potential consequences of allowing US artificial intelligence (AI) chips to be used to train Chinese AI models, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian stated on Friday that the US overstretches the concept of national security, abuses export control actions and long-arm jurisdiction.
He said that Washington imposes malicious restrictions and crackdown on Chinese chip products and AI industry based on false accusations.
Lin said that the US move seriously violates market rules, disrupts the stability of the international industrial and supply chains, and seriously breaches the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese firms.

Beijing strongly opposes and absolutely won’t accept such measures, he added.
China urges Washington to immediately correct its wrongful practice, stop the dangerous suppression of Chinese tech firms and the AI industry, Lin said.
He further said that Beijing will take resolute steps to protect the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese companies.

Responding to another question about the Russia-Ukraine negotiations in Turkiye during his routine media conference, Lin said that China’s position on the Ukraine crisis has always been consistent and clear, and it supports all initiatives aimed at promoting peace.
China supported the start of direct talks and dialogue between Russia and Ukraine, he added.
