# China Says Terrorism Key Strain in Pak-Afghan Ties

**Beijing (TDI):** Representatives from China, Afghanistan, and Pakistan held an informal meeting from April 1 to 7 in Urumqi, according to Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning.

Speaking at a regular press briefing, Mao said the delegations included officials from foreign affairs, defense, and security institutions of all three countries. She described the discussions as candid and practical, carried out in a constructive atmosphere with a focus on resolving issues through concrete actions.

She said China had noted and summarized the outcomes and common understandings achieved through intensive bilateral and trilateral meetings over the past week.

The Afghan and Pakistani sides reaffirmed that the two countries are Muslim brothers and close neighbors, Mao said.

The three parties recognized that due to complex and turbulent international and regional situations, maintaining good-neighborly relations between Afghanistan and Pakistan is crucial for the well-being of their peoples and for peace and stability in South Asia.
