It has expanded cooperation with the member states of ASEAN. China has been present for them in difficult times such as in the Coronavirus prevailing world. It has provided vaccines to different ASEAN states to fight against the pandemic. China and ASEAN have joined hands to deal with the challenges of Coronavirus and in economic recovery from the pandemic affected the world.
Therefore, China has provided hundreds of millions of doses of vaccines to ASEAN member states such as Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar etc. It has also sent them medical experts with medical supplies to help them in challenging times. Only on 22 October did China sent 800, 000 Sino-pharm doses of vaccines to Vietnam and other medical supplies worth 9.7 US million dollars.
In addition to health diplomacy, China has also helped ASEAN member states in economic recovery. China was the only country that had a positive growth of the economy in 2020. It then helped ASEAN countries to rebuild their economies. According to 2020 stats, ASEAN has become the largest trading partner of China. China also launched a railway system that connects China with Vietnam and Laos. China-ASEAN looks forward to expanding their cooperation to strengthen the relations as well as to secure the stability of the region.
