China and Uganda celebrate 59 years of relations

Kampala, 18 October 2021 (TDI): China and Uganda are celebrating 59 years of diplomatic ties. The relations between the two countries are strong and based on trade. They were established in 1962 after nine days of Uganda gaining independence on 18th October. Ever since, the two states are working in collaboration with each other.

Owing to the old relation between the two, China has donated 300,000 Sinovac vaccines for Uganda. In addition, the country will be receiving another consignment of vaccine. The consignment will have 700,000 vaccine doses.

China will donate Covid-19 vaccine to Uganda

The advent of the Covid-19 pandemic plunged the world into a health crisis. Resultantly, countries all around the world and their healthcare systems have been struggling. Vaccine drive initiated at the start of this year to curb the Corona Virus, leading to vaccine diplomacy. Due to vaccine diplomacy, countries like China have been producing vaccines, are aiding the other countries to help fight Covid-19.

Aside from Uganda, China has been providing vaccines to many other countries as well to fight the Covid1-19.
