8 June 2021 (TDI): The ‘World Ocean Day’ is being celebrated all around the world today on June 8 under the UN-selected theme for the year, “The Ocean: Life and Livelihoods”.
On this occasion, Pakistan’s Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi, shared an important message.
Acknowledging the challenges that threaten the safety of the oceans and the survival of marine species, he said Pak Navy is playing a leading role in the promotion of safe and sustainable use of ocean resources and has taken some major initiatives to counter the problem.
The admiral further stated that a number of events and activities have been arranged to highlight the spirit of the day and raise awareness about oceanic resources.
He concluded the message by reaffirming the commitment and resolve to save our oceans from any further degradation and protect Earth’s ultimate source of life.
