**Khartoum (TDI):** The chairman of Sudan’s Transitional Sovereignty Council, Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, met with Qatar’s ambassador to Sudan, Mohammed Ibrahim Tajer Al Sada.

The meeting discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations and expand prospects for joint cooperation in all fields, in a manner that serves the mutual interests of the two countries and their people.

The ambassador congratulated Burhan on the government’s return to carrying out its duties from the capital, Khartoum, expressing hope that Sudan will witness further development, growth, stability, and peace.

Hostilities that started in April 2023 have triggered one of the world’s worst humanitarian crises, displacing millions and severely damaging state institutions.

Since hostilities began, urban warfare in Khartoum and across Darfur has deepened fragmentation within the country, with both sides accused by international observers of human rights violations.

The prolonged fighting has also drawn regional and international attention, as neighboring states and Gulf powers seek to prevent further destabilization in the Horn of Africa.
