Pakistani CG met the Mayor of Brampton

Brampton, 23 December 2021 (TDI): Yesterday, the Pakistani Consul General in Toronto Abdul Hameed, met with Patrick Brown, Mayor of Brampton. The meeting took place in Mayor Patrick’s office.

Both the officials discussed important topics such as economic development and cooperation. The Consul General briefed the Mayor on good economic opportunities in Pakistan and both decided to create collaboration opportunities among the cities of Pakistan and Brampton.

Pakistan and Canada have been collaborating on various agreements, providing opportunities to its people to contribute to the economy as well. Recently the Board of Investment Pakistan organized a virtual conference to discuss the areas of investment in Pakistan.

Pakistan right now has various emerging fields and areas available for good investment opportunities for foreigners. These areas include Information Technology, Construction, e-commerce, the automotive industry, and the food and agricultural industry.

Recently Pakistan has started the manufacturing of electronic cars, thus creating more opportunities for foreign companies either big or small to invest in Pakistan.

The Consul General of Pakistan even gave a book called ‘The Craft Traditions of Pakistan’ to Mayor Patrick Brown. This book was written by Noorjhan Bilgrami. The book talks about the different traditional crafts of Pakistan such as clay, wood, metal, cloth and stone. The gesture of presenting the book to the Mayor shows the promotion of Pakistan’s craftsmanship at an international level.

Pakistan and Canada Relations

In November the Pakistani High Commission to Canada arranged a meeting to announce the great revenue generated by trade between Canada and Pakistan. The revenue that was generated in the first nine months of the year 2021, has increased since last year.

The number of exports from Canada and Pakistan also increased by 32 per cent this year. The trade relations between Pakistan and Canada are improving therefore, discussing new and innovative areas of investments in Pakistan will bring more foreign investments in the country.
