Baku (TDI): Bulgaria’s President Iliana Iotova is set to address the World Urban Forum in Baku, according to the presidential press secretariat.

The event, taking place during the 13th session of the World Urban Forum, is themed “Housing the World: Safe and Resilient Cities and Communities,” and brings together global leaders to discuss urban development challenges and solutions.

Iotova is currently on a visit to Azerbaijan at the invitation of President Ilham Aliyev, and her participation in the forum marks the second day of her official trip.

On the sidelines of the visit, she held talks with President Aliyev, where discussions focused mainly on strengthening energy cooperation between Bulgaria and Azerbaijan.

A key point of conversation was Bulgaria’s interest in increasing Azerbaijani gas supplies to Europe via the Greece–Bulgaria interconnector, highlighting energy security as a shared priority.

Iotova also underlined the importance of joint energy investments involving Azerbaijani and Bulgarian companies, describing them as stable and necessary in a global environment marked by uncertainty and conflict.
