London, 16 September 2021 (TDI): Newly appointed British Foreign Secretary, Liz Truss, chaired a meeting of the foreign ministers of Commonwealth nations.
Secretary Liz called the meeting on her first day in office to discuss the continuing multilateral trade relationship between the countries.
The impact of Coronavirus on the economies of Commonwealth nations was also examined.
The reconstruction of markets in the aftermath of the pandemic is a serious concern for the Commonwealth nations.
She also raised challenges pertaining to climate change and the possible and feasible ways to set policies of the Commonwealth nations for recovery.
During the Meeting, the British representative, Lord Tariq Ahmad, pointed out that UK has given over 500 million pounds to COVAX and delivered 230 million doses of vaccine to commonwealth nations.
