Blinken Met With Norwegian FM

Washington, 4 September 2021 (TDI): The US Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken held a meeting with Norwegian Foreign Minister Ine Eriksen Søreide on Friday to address the humanitarian situation in Afghanistan following the Taliban takeover and discuss the way forward.

The officials showed dedication towards making efforts to tackle the humanitarian crises in Afghanistan and coordinate on the platform of the United Nations Security Council. The US Secretary of State also showed gratitude towards Søreide for Norway’s strong partnership in the region. Both parties reiterated a strong commitment to ensuring safe transit for any Afghan partner, American or foreign national who needs help with retreating from Afghanistan.

The diplomatic relations between Norway and the United States were formally established in 1905. Both states have since aimed to collaborate on numerous issues that are important for both nations and the rest of the world.
