Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister meets Vice President of ICRC

Baku, 19 October 2021 (TDI): Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov received a delegation led by the International Committee of the Red Cross Vice President, Gilles Carbonnier.

During the meeting, Foreign Minister highlighted Azerbaijan’s cooperation with the ICRC. He mentioned that Azerbaijan has always supported the implementation of the ICRC’s humanitarian mission under international law. He also briefed the ICRC Delegation about regional developments. He underscored the concrete steps taken by Azerbaijan in the liberated territories.

ICRC Vice President, Carbonnier expressed satisfaction with the support and cooperation provided by the Government of Azerbaijan. He stressed the importance of continuing cooperation based on existing humanitarian priorities. He also praised the work done by Azerbaijan to return Azerbaijani citizens from the Middle East.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov said that obtaining information about missing Azerbaijanis was important for Azerbaijan. He praised the work of the ICRC in collecting information on missing people from the First Karabakh War. The sides also exchanged views on the ICRC’s humanitarian mission in the region.
