Azerbaijan extends condolences to Pakistan

Baku, 7 October 2021 (TDI): Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has extended condolences to Pakistan on the earthquake.

Azerbaijan is deeply saddened by the news of the earthquake that struck Pakistan’s Balochistan province. It has extended condolences to the families of the victims of the disaster.  It has also wished a speedy recovery to all injured.

At least 20 people were killed and about 300 injured on Thursday. The magnitude of the earthquake was 5.7. More than 100 mud houses collapsed and many buildings were damaged. Television footage showed buildings with gaping cracks, caved-in roofs, and crumbled walls. Aftershocks were being felt across the region.

Pakistan sits on top of colliding tectonic plates and earthquakes are common. Azerbaijan extended its support to Pakistan. It has assured its assistance to eliminate the consequences of the earthquake.
