Islamabad, 16 March 2022 (TDI): Alexander Schallenberg, the Federal Minister for European and International Affairs of Austria, will visit Pakistan from 16 to 19 March 2022.
The Austrian Foreign Minister will be coming at the invitation of the Foreign Minister of Pakistan, Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi. A business delegation will be accompanying him.
Foreign Minister Schallenberg will conduct delegation talks with Foreign Minister Qureshi during his visit. The two will evaluate the whole spectrum of bilateral matters as well as discuss regional and international issues of precedence.
The Austrian Foreign Minister will also meet other dignitaries during the course of his stay in Pakistan. A business roundtable will be arranged to give Austrian and Pakistani businessmen an opportunity to deliberate upon prospective business opportunities.
Foreign Minister Schallenberg will also visit Lahore. The visit of Foreign Minister Schallenberg to Pakistan is anticipated to impart further momentum to the multidimensional Pakistan-Austria relationship.
Austria-Pakistan Ties
Austria is a significant partner of Pakistan. The two have longstanding, amicable ties with increasing collaboration in multifarious domains. Several Austrian enterprises are doing business in Pakistan.
Likewise, the two countries have associations in the area of higher education as well. Austria and Pakistan also collaborate closely at many global fora.
Phone call between Prime Minister Imran Khan and the Austrian Federal Chancellor, Karl Nehammer
Earlier last month, Prime Minister Imran Khan also talked to the Austrian Federal Chancellor, Karl Nehammer. During his phone call, he emphasized the necessity to further boost and deepen bilateral ties between Pakistan and Austria in diverse sectors.
These include the fields of higher education, Information Technology, renewable energy, and tourism. The conversation between the two heads of state focused on the review of bilateral ties, peace and stability in the region, and the situation in Afghanistan.
Prime Minister Imran Khan also extended an invitation to the Federal Chancellor of Austria to visit Pakistan.
