# Araghchi in Islamabad as Pakistan Pushes US–Iran Dialogue

**Islamabad (TDI):** An Iranian delegation led by Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has arrived in Islamabad for high-level talks, as reports also indicate that senior US officials may soon travel to Pakistan for renewed diplomatic engagement.

According to Pakistan’s Foreign Office, Araghchi was received by top leadership, including Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Chief of Defense Forces, Army Chief Asim Munir. During his visit, he is expected to hold meetings focused on regional developments and ongoing efforts to promote peace and stability.

The visit comes at a sensitive time, with Islamabad playing an active role in facilitating dialogue related to tensions between the United States and Iran. While there were indications that a second round of talks involving both sides could take place in Pakistan, Tehran has made it clear that no direct meeting with US representatives is currently planned.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei stated that the delegation would instead use the visit to convey Iran’s position and consult with Pakistani leadership as part of broader regional diplomacy.

The trip is part of a wider regional tour by Araghchi that also includes stops in Muscat and Moscow. Iranian officials say the aim is to coordinate with partners on bilateral matters and discuss the evolving situation following the recent conflict involving the United States and Israel.

Meanwhile, the White House has signaled that senior envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner could travel to Pakistan for another round of diplomacy, following earlier talks held in Islamabad earlier this month. US officials say Pakistan has played a key role as a mediator in these efforts.

Despite some signs of progress, mistrust between Washington and Tehran remains high, particularly over disputes related to maritime tensions in the Strait of Hormuz and broader regional security concerns.

Pakistan has stepped up its diplomatic outreach in recent days, engaging both sides in an effort to bring them back to the negotiating table. Earlier discussions between US and Iranian representatives in Islamabad ended without a breakthrough but kept the door open for further talks.
