Beijing, 26 December 2023 (TDI): Ambassador of Pakistan to China, Khalil Hashmi, engaged in a productive meeting with the Director of Palace Museum, Wang Xudong, in Beijing Last week.

During the meeting, both sides expressed their satisfaction on the successful Pakistan China Gandhara Exhibition at Beijing, Gansu, and Shenzhen earlier this year. The Ambassador and the Director agreed to collaborate with each other on further exhibitions.

On September 8th, as part of the continued cultural exchanges between China and Pakistan, “Gandhara Heritage along the Silk Road: A joint China-Pakistan Exhibition” was unveiled at the Palace Museum in Lanzhou, Gansu Province.

The Exhibition was the continuation of the same exhibition that was held at the Palace Museum, Beijing earlier this year.

The Gandhara Exhibition displayed 170 artifacts from Pakistan and 30 from Palace Museum which marked another milestone in cultural exchange program between the two countries.

The Pakistani artifacts featured in the exhibition were renowned Gandhara stone carvings, early Buddhist sculptures, Buddha stories, Jataka tales, stupa architectural components, as well as intricate gold and silverware, and jewelry.

The Secretary, National Heritage and Culture Division, Pakistan, Humaira Ahmed applauded this initiative and termed the exhibition a landmark platform enabling the audience in China to explore the treasures of the great Gandhara civilization.

The Secretary expressed her appreciation for the Chinese side for the efforts to preserve and present the Gandhara artifacts that signified our common heritage.
