Ambassador Asad Majeed Met with Representative Bowman

Washington D.C., 22 October 2021(TDI): On Thursday, Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States, Dr. Asad Majeed Khan, announced his meeting with the U.S. Representative for New York’s 16th Congressional District, Jamaal Anthony Bowman, in Washington.

The officials discussed the US-Pakistan bilateral relations and various issues of mutual concern, particularly the Afghanistan crisis. While expressing contentment over his meeting with Representative Bowman, Ambassador Khan also invited the Congressman to visit Islamabad soon.

 

While in Washington, the officials also discussed ways to enhance the US’ relationship with Pakistan, besides increasing mutual cooperation to address Kabul’s political and humanitarian crisis, followed by the Taliban takeover in August.

Jamaal Bowman expressed pleasure over his meeting with Dr. Asad Majeed and commended the Ambassador’s dedication towards effectively representing Islamabad on multiple platforms. The Congressman also welcomed future opportunities conducive to the people of Pakistan at large.

The United States formally established its diplomatic relations with Pakistan following the country’s independence in 1947. Both states have since worked closely on a wide array of issues, including taking substantial measures to counter terrorism, stabilization efforts in Afghanistan, and collaborating in the energy, trade, and investment sector.
