Al-Khidmat Foundation Announces Gaza Reconstruction Project Worth $53million

Karachi (TDI): Pakistan’s leading charity and humanitarian organization, Al-Khidmat Foundation, has announced a reconstruction project for Gaza, on Sunday. The project will utilize 15 billion Pakistani Rupees ($52.8 million) to provide critical infrastructure on short and long term bases.

The charity has come up with this announcement as a ceasefire between Hamas and Israel took effect on October 10, and was also formalized and recognized by major stakeholder countries in a “peace” summit in Egypt, where Trump himself was present.

However, the ceasefire has been violated by Israel as per ground reports coming from residents of Gaza and also being reported by Israeli media; indicating how fragile the ceasefire is and how it does not guarantee any long term peace in the Mideast.

Al-Khidmat Foundation has run rounds of relief and aid for Palestinians since the start of Israel’s assault on Gaza two years ago. Pakistan’s government has also been forthcoming in sending multiple aid consignments to Gaza.

“Al-Khidmat has always responded to human suffering beyond borders,” a statement by the Foundation read, adding “Our support for Gaza is not based on politics, but purely on humanitarian grounds.”

The Foundation has regularly coordinated with charities and relief organizations working on ground, such the the Palestinian Red Crescent; which has been instrumental in rescue work during these two years of Israel’s deadly assault on Gaza; often also dubbed “genocide.”

“One hundred tons of aid supplies have arrived in Cairo via air cargo from Pakistan, which will be sent inside Gaza in the next 3 days,” the statement also said highlighting the quick pace of humanitarian services since the announcement of ceasefire.

But Netanyahu’s refusal to open Rafah crossing and Israel’s violation of ceasefire once again are jeopardizing humanitarian access inside the hunger-struck enclave.

According to the requirement of the first phase of ceasefire, Hamas returned all 20 living hostages to Israel along with 12 dead hostages; in response to which Israel freed 2000 Palestinian prisoners.

Now Israel cites the delay in return of remaining hostages’ bodies as its reason for violating the ceasefire and going aggressive again. Hamas, for its part, made it clear earlier that the return of corpses buried under the rubble will take much longer. It maintains that it lacks machinery to do so.
