Baku, 10 August 2022 (TDI): Ramtane Lamamra, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad of Algeria arrived in Baku as the Special Envoy of Algerian President, Abdelmadjid Tebboune. Lamamra’s visit to Azerbaijan is a working visit comprising two days.

Agenda of the visit

During the visit, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad of Algeria met with his Azerbaijani counterpart, Jeyhun Bayramov. Moreover, the high authorities of Azerbaijan received the Algerian Foreign Minister.

High representatives of the two sides discussed bilateral relations and issues of common interest. Various other international and regional issues were also discussed in the meeting. Additionally, Ramtane Lamamra also held a joint briefing after the meeting.

In a press conference held after the Foreign Ministers’ meeting, Ramtane Lamamra said, “This visit is important from many aspects. This visit will contribute to the development of a rich heritage related to our relations. We need to consider perspectives on issues of common interest.”

Algeria-Azerbaijan bilateral relations

According to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Algeria, Ramtane Lamamra, both states cooperate successfully within the international organizations. These include the OPEC and the Non-Aligned Movement, amongst others.

Azerbaijan and Algeria also aim to hold business consultations. The Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, said that the documents signed during the meeting will take active cooperation to the next stage.

Both sides believed that such consultations can further help in strengthening their bilateral relations. Moreover, these also act as the driving force for their developing economic relations. All of this indirectly benefits the people of both countries.

In return, the Foreign Minister of Algeria, Ramtane Lamamra, also invited the representatives of Azerbaijan to Algeria to show hospitality and encourage friendly relations.
