Berlin: June 24, 2021 –(TDI): The African Union Commissioner for Political Affairs, Peace and Security Bankole Adeoye is in Berlin for the Second Berlin conference on Libya.
The commissioner represented AU in the conference and stressed the idea of a speedy withdrawal of foreign forces from Libya and the elections in Libya that are to be held on 24th December. He also affirmed that the African Union will continue to firmly assist Libya’s interim executive authorities.
On the sidelines of the conference, the AU commissioner also had bilateral talks with the German Foreign minister where both sides discussed the future opportunities to build stronger ties between the EU and AU.
Adeoye also met Annette Weber, the recently appointed EU Special Representative for the Horn of Africa. The AU Commissioner congratulated the EU representative and had fruitful discussions with her during the meet.
