Afghan Supreme Leader Asks Provincial Governors to Enforce Shariah

Kandahar, 21 August 2024 (TDI):  Afghanistan’s Supreme Leader Haibatullah Akhundzada convened a meeting with the governors from all provinces in Kandahar. He urged them to enforce Shariah Islamic Laws in its full essence across country.

The meeting formally began with the recitation of a few verses of the Holy Quran followed by an extensive address by the Supreme Leader.

Calls for Islamic Governance

In his address, Supreme Leader Akhundzada urged all governors and officials across the nation to uphold the principles of sound Islamic governance. He advised them to diligently fulfil their responsibilities and safeguard the Islamic framework established through Jihad. Moreover, he emphasized that the primary objective of the sacrifices made by the Mujahideen was to ensure the enforcement of the Holy Sharia.

In his extensive address, he reminded the governors of their position as the initial victors who stood at the forefront of the conflict. “Dozens and hundreds of Mujahideen have sacrificed their lives under your guidance. It is imperative to realize their aspirations,” he stressed.

Stresses Sharia Enforcement

Supreme Leader Akhundzada guided the governors to strengthen the Islamic framework, enforce Sharia law, and reinvigorate divine ordinances in their provinces.  He stressed that they must ensure the prevention of any unlawful activities within the provinces. Haibatullah Akhundzada advised them to prioritise the spiritual and intellectual growth of the population. In addition, he encouraged them to build strong connections with scholars, stating, “Entrust scholars, seek their guidance, and collaborate in religious implementation.”

During the meeting,  he highlighted the necessity of prioritizing the education of the youth. He stressed the governors to cultivate a generation deeply instilled with the essence of Islam.

The Supreme Leader of Afghanistan also listened to the ideas and viewpoints of governors as they shared their insights regarding the maintenance of the Islamic system and the implementation of Sharia. Finally, all the members offered the prayer and the meeting concluded.
