Washington: June 26, 2021 – (TDI): The President of the United States of America, Joe Biden, met the President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Ashraf Ghani and the Chairman High Council for National Reconciliation, Dr. Abdullah Abdullah at the White House. The Afghan president is on his first official visit to America. Mr. Biden, during this meeting, affirmed the Afghan officials that the US will continue to assist Afghanistan in achieving a peaceful and stable future for the Afghan people. Mr. Biden also reiterated the endurance of this bilateral partnership.
In this meeting, Mr. Biden stressed America’s determination to support Afghan minorities via development, civilian and humanitarian aids. The US is keen on continuing assistance for Afghan Forces in the Peace Process, he further established. While discussing the Covid-19 situation in Afghanistan, Mr. Biden expressed his concerns about the increasing number of cases. He noted the US’ humanitarian aid of three million vaccines, in this regard. The topic of Intra-Afghan negotiations was a highlight in this meeting. The three officials expressed their common view of the significance of discussions among the Afghan political leaders, as a key point in the Afghan Peace Process.
