Afghan Permanent Representative to UN met with UNSG

New York, 21 August 2021 (TDI): Permanent Representative of Afghanistan to United Nations, Ghulam M. Isaczai called on the Secretary-General of United Nations Antonio Guterres to discuss the chaotic situation in Afghanistan.

During the meeting, both parties discussed the current mayhem in Afghanistan. Afghan Representative briefed the Secretary-General about the latest development in the country and underscored the importance of an inclusive government in Afghanistan. Both sides expressed grave concerns about Human Rights violations in Afghanistan. Ghulam Isaczai emphasized that Afghanistan requires consistent humanitarian aid from United Nations in this critical time.

For his part, Antonio Guterres reaffirmed UN support to the people of Afghanistan. He stated that the UN is committed to helping the people and maintaining peace in the country.
