New York, 3 August 2021 (TDI): Afghan Mission at United Nation addressed the Security Council at the August Presidency of India. T S Tirumurti, India’s Permanent Representative took over the seat of President of United Nations Security Council for the month of August on Monday.
The Afghan Mission, led by Ghulam M. Isaczai, presented certain concerns about security and development in Afghanistan during the UNSC session.
The Mission urged the international community in UNSC to assist Afghanistan forces to counter, restrain the Afghan Taliban and their violence in the country. Afghan Representatives highlighted the deteriorating security situation in Afghanistan and called for immediate help. The President of the Security Council, TS Tirumurti, noted that the number of causalities in Afghanistan has increased terrifically in the last two months and affirmed that the Global community wishes for a secure and democratic Afghanistan.
