Afghan Foreign Minister met NATO’s Senior Civilian Representative for Afghanistan

Kabul – 3 August 2021 (TDI) Haneef Atmar, Foreign Minister of Afghanistan held a meeting with NATO’s Senior Civilian Representative for Afghanistan, Stefano Pontecorvo on Tuesday, 3 August 2021.

Haneef Atmar showed gratitude for NATO’s cooperation and assured that NATO is always welcome in Afghanistan for Diplomatic and Security Cooperation. Foreign Minister noted that a revision in the legal courses is required for stronger bilateral relations between Afghanistan and the organization.

On his part, Pontecorvo briefed the Minister about NATO’s plans for consolidating defense of Afghanistan.

He also discussed the significance of high-level security for Hamid Karzai International Airport while proposing the establishment of an institution to train Afghanis on how to manage and run the airport. In addition, he also emphasized the significance of diplomatic missions and their roles in establishing cordial bilateral relations with other countries.
