13 Killed, 50 Injured By Indian Shelling in AJK

*This is a developing story

Muzaffarabad (TDI): Spokesperson for the Pakistan Government in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Mazhar Hussain Shah, has told Al Jazeera that at least 13 people have been martyred due to Indian shelling in various areas across the region, since last night. He said that a child under 10 was also among the dead, adding that more than 50 people are wounded.

Pakistan launched a full military offensive in the wee hours of Saturday, in retaliation to India’s last night attacks on three Pakistani air bases, including one in Rawalpindi.

Operation Bunyan-ul-Marsoos (Wall of Lead) is still ongoing and is Pakistan’s official response to India’s Operation Sindoor in which it targeted Pakistani civilians.

At 3:30 am on Saturday, the Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Lt. General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, informed the public that India had attacked Pakistan Air Force’s bases of Nur Khan (Chaklala, Rawalpindi), Murid (Chakwal) and Rafiqui (Shorkot in Jhang district).

He further added that all assets of the Air Force are safe, and no casualties took place. Pakistan’s Civil Aviation had earlier closed the airspace till noon and later extended the time to 24 hours until Sunday noon.

Pakistan’s AJK and Indian-Occupied Kashmir are active areas of conflict right now, while friendly countries are staying in touch with officials of both countries and trying to bring them to deescalate.
