habib-sbHabibullah Magsi (PhD) is serving as a Professor of Agricultural Economics at Sindh Agriculture University Tandojam, Pakistan. He is a recipient of the Philippe Aydalot Prize 2014, the Prize awarded for the best thesis in Regional Sciences, defended in the European countries. He holds a PhD degree in the Development Economics from the ParisTech (France) and a Master degree in Spatial Economics from University of Paris Nanterre (France). Besides extensive teaching experiences, his research work focuses on resolution and prevention of land use conflicts, generated by infrastructural development projects in the developing countries, where he has broadened the methodological skills on the territorial development and introduced with other social-sciences like: sociology, geography and anthropology. His research contributes in the contemporary social and territorial development with geopolitics and governance system. He is the author of a book and many research and extension articles on development related issues over developing countries. Dr. Magsi has not only participated in the scientific committees of various national and international conferences, but also serving as the member of diverse national and international professional associations.

Ariel González Levaggi is Secretary of the Eurasian Department at the Institute for International Relations of the National University of La Plata. MA Candidate in Political Science and Sociology at Facultad Latinoamericana de Ciencias Sociales (FLACSO) and BA in International Relations from the Kennedy University of Argentina. His activities, studies and academic papers have focused on international relations, mainly in Latin American-Middle East relations and South-South Cooperation agenda. He is one of the founders of the Argentine Center of International Studies (Centro Argentino de Estudios Internacionales, CAEI), a Non-Profit Think Tank based in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Also he is Senior Policy Advisor of the Ocean Security Initiative (OSI) and member of the Advisory Board of the Mediterranean Policy Centre (MPC). Also he has impulsed several social and academic initiatives like UNASUR Outlook, the journal Argentina en Asuntos Estratégicos, among others.

Dr. Victoria Fontan

Dr.Victoria is Head and Associate Professor, Department of Peace and Conflict Studies at the United Nations mandated University for Peace, Costa Rica. Her original specialization has been in insurgency studies, focusing on the role of humiliation in relation to the emergence of insurgencies, mostly in a Middle Eastern context. She has published on Lebanon and Iraq, and has worked on both countries for the first ten years of my academic career.

She is now shifting specializations from Critical Terrorism Studies towards developing a decolonizing approach to Peace and Conflict Studies, emerging from a post-liberal peace paradigm.
Dr.Victoria has been at the University for Peace since 2005, and has been involved various projects over the years. To date, she is the curriculum design co-ordinator for the UPeace Great Lakes Program, geared towards fostering capacity co-operation in Peace and Conflict Studies as well as Critical Pedagogy between ten African Academic Institutions and UPeace. This project is a direct application of her research on decolonizing peace. She is also involved in the development and management of the new UPeace Doctoral Program.

Dominik Lehnert has to his account more than twelve years of expertise in developing and producing varieties of media formats and in international commercial and non-profit communications and campaigns. He has worked for over seven years as a freelance consultant for international peace and development organisations in various countries.

He is the founder and director of Xchange Perspectives e.V., a German non-profit organisation dedicated to the support of community based media initiatives. Currently he is the editor in chief of Sudanvotes, a project initiated by Media in Cooperation and Transition to promote independent, balanced and accurate coverage of Sudanese and South Sudanese affairs, which is funded by the German Federal Foreign Office.


In 2003, Dominik successfully completed his studies in Business Administration, Journalism and Public Relations and in 2009, he graduated with a Master of Arts in Peace and Conflict Studies from the European Peace University, where he developed the ‘Media for Peace’ framework, used in all the media initiatives supported by Xchange Perspectives.

Dominik’s expertise covers the full range of project and programme development, and implementation and evaluation. His strong and cross-cutting backgrounds in peace and conflict, media for social change, business administration and journalism give him a well-rounded experience and capacity to support media organisations in their work for peace.

Mrs. María Gloria Báez Recalde

Mrs. Maria has extensive experience in Journalism. She has been a Host and Producer of Television and Radio programs in Paraguay, Germany and Argentina.  While resident in Argentina, she was the correspondent for a German/American news agency and  a Paraguayan  Radio Station  and Newspaper.  She has degrees in Journalism and Public Affairs Administration.

Mrs. Báez returned to Paraguay, in 2008, to take the post of Director of International Relations at the Secretary of the Woman of the Presidency of the Republic. In this post, she has specialized on various themes, such as: Human Rights, International Relations, Defense, Trafficking of People; all with a special Gender focus. Her responsibilities have taken her to many countries, including: Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Uruguay, Costa Rica, Santo Domingo, USA, France, Switzerland, Egypt, Kuwait, South Korea, just to mention a few, where she has participated, defended and promoted the actions and policies taken by the current government  in respect of the mentioned themes.

She is the Paraguayan Representative or Delegate at many international Forums and work-shops, as well as the coordinator and organizer of various international meetings held in Paraguay.

Dr. Mirza Barjees Baig is working as a  Professor of Agricultural Extension and Rural Society at the King Saud University, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. He received his education in both social and natural sciences from USA. He completed his Ph.D. in Extension for Natural Resource Management from the University of Idaho, Moscow, Idaho, USA. He earned his MS degree in International Agricultural Extension in 1992 from the Utah State University, Logan, Utah, USA and was placed on the “Roll of Honour”. During his doctoral program, he was honored with “1995 Outstanding Graduate Student Award”.

Dr. Baig has published extensively in the national and international journals. He has also presented extension education and natural resource management extensively at various international conferences. Particularly issues like degradation of natural resources, deteriorating environment and their relationship with society/community are his areas of interest. He has attempted to develop strategies for conserving natural resources, promoting environment and developing sustainable communities through rural development programs.

Dr. Baig started his scientific career in 1983 as a researcher at the Pakistan Agricultural Research Council, Islamabad, Pakistan and in that capacity, he worked on the various issues related to soils and crops.  He has been associated with the University of Guelph, Ontario, Canada as the Special Graduate Faculty in the School of Environmental Design and Rural Planning from 2000-2005. He served as a Foreign Professor at the Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) through Higher Education Commission of Pakistan, from 2005-2009.

Dr. Baig the member of the Assessment Committee of the Intergovernmental Education Organization, United Nations,  EDU Administrative Office, Brussels, Belgium. He is also a Visiting Fellow at the Sustainable Development Policy Institute, Islamabad, Pakistan. He serves on the editorial Boards of many International Journals including: International Journal of Agriculture and Biology; TC- Biodiversity Journal, Canada; Journal of Agricultural Extension and Rural Development. Dr. Baig is the member of many national and international professional organizations including Nova Scotia Institute of Agrologists. Dr. Baig has traveled in Europe and the Middle East and has got a vast experience of working with the international community.

At the Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU), he served as the Coordinator for M.Sc. Rural Development degree program. Along with many publications, he has produced books on “Natural Resource Management in Pakistan; Social Forestry in Pakistan. He was the member of committee, revising curricula for M.Sc. (Hons.) Agricultural Extension and M.Sc. (Hons.) Forestry Extension degree programmes at the AIOU.

Prof. Dr. Moonis Ahmar

Dr. Moonis Ahmar is Professor of International Relations at the University of Karachi and Director, Program on Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution.

From April 2010, Dr. Ahmar is a DAAD Visiting Professor, Conflict Studies and Management Program, Wills Brandt School of Public Policy, University of Erfurt. Apart from teaching a course to MPP students on Conflict Management in Central Asia, he is also working on research project, “Secular Option for the Management of Religious Militancy in Pakistan: Lesson from the European Experience.”

His field of specialization is conflict and security studies focussing on the South and the Central Asian regions. Dr.Ahmar has 27 years of academic experience in Pakistan and in different foreign universities and research think tanks. He is the author of two books, four monographs and has edited 15 books on different themes of International Relations. Dr. Ahmar has published his research in international journals. Dr. Ahmar has worked on several research projects related to terrorism, conflict and security studies and has received research grants from the Ford Foundation, Plougshares Fund, Higher Education Commission, Islamabad, Research Facility Center, University of Karachi, U.S. Institute of Peace, Asia Fellows Program and Regional Center of Strategic Studies, Colombo. Dr. Ahmar has been the recipient of Best Teacher Award from the Higher Education Commission, Islamabad, UNESCO, UN Commission for Human Development and the Federal Ministry of Education, Islamabad. John M. Nomikos (PhD) is the Director at the Research Institute for European and American Studies, Chairman of the Mediterranean Council for Intelligence Studies (MCIS), Chairman of the Greek Intelligence Studies Association (GISA) and co-Founder of the Athens Security Forum (ASF). He is a Visiting Professor at the Peace Keeping Security Studies (postgraduate program) in the University of Rome (Tre) in Italy. He is also an Adjunct Professor at the Department of International Relations in the University of Indianapolis (Athens Campus). He earned his Bachelor Degree in Sociology at the Northeast Louisiana University in 1987, his Masters Degree in European Integration and Cooperation at the University of Hull, 1991, and his Doctorate Diploma in International Relations and Diplomacy at the Washington International University in 2001. He specializes on transatlantic intelligence studies, intelligence reform, and national security architecture. He has done research and studied in various research institutions in USA, UK, Norway, Finland, Germany and Israel.

John M. Nomikos directed the Greek team in a consortium of five countries (Northern Ireland-UK, Spain, Germany, Bulgaria, and Israel) and completed successfully a two year (2009-2011) European Union-FP7 research project titled: SAFE COMMS on “Counter-terrorism Crisis Communication Strategies for Recovery and Continuity.”
